People fail in math because of several reasons: lack of solid math foundation, not effective study methods, repeated failure, resulting lack of motivation and anxiety, etc. Of course, the infamous question as well: where will I use all these math knowledge? We can perhaps summarize these reasons in two major categories: One is ineffective math learning attempts and the other is disbelief in math's usefulness. 

The biggest advantage of learning math is developing problem-solving skills that are applicable in nearly every aspect of life. Math teaches you how to think critically, analyze situations, break down complex problems into manageable steps, and apply logical reasoning to find solutions. This kind of thinking isn't just limited to math problems—it's a valuable skill in almost any field or real-world situation. Unfortunately, people do not realize this aspect of math easily. I suggest these people to do more research on math's usefulness in life. 

Second issue is to learn math effectively, which requires a systematic learning strategy. Since math is a language and math subjects are built on top of each other or in connection with others, students generally have difficulty in connecting math subjects to give a particular situation or math problem a meaning. Then, this leads to frustration and anxiety and thus math failure.

The remedy is to understand each student's math strengths and weaknesses and formulate a learning strategy. Then, student can implement this strategy together with a math teacher. That's the aim of MathExcel math teaching: Devising a solid math learning strategy based on each student's needs and carefully implement it. 

In a classroom with many students and frequent disruptions, it can be challenging to create and implement individualized strategies that address each student’s needs. A more effective solution, however, is to focus on teaching students how to learn math efficiently. At MathExcel, we prioritize teaching students the systematic process of learning math, empowering them to eventually become their own teachers. This approach not only helps them master math but also encourages self-learning in other subjects.
